CAD Commander

CAD Commander is a wireless Bluetooth joystick designed for Autodesk Fusion360. It can switch between orbiting, panning, and zooming modes and has two reprogrammable side buttons. The joystick runs on a LiPo battery and is USB rechargeable.

This was designed from the ground up, starting with the circuit diagram, the PCB layout, and the 3D model. I hand-soldered the PCB, and 3D printed/painted the enclosure.

The paint job was something of a happy accident. I was originally going to have it be a solid green, but I mistook a white glaze for a clear coat and got some speckles of white on the enclosure before I realized. I decided to lean into the speckling and I think the result is better for it.
